Extra Task: Pen Tool

For this extra task I had to use the pen tool in Illustrator to trace the subject of a photo and create something like a magazine cover. For this I had put much thought into the chosen photo and in the end this was the photo that I chose.

The subject of this photo is the cake itself. In my opinion the icing sugar is extremely similar to snow, so for the illustration itself I had chosen winter colours such as white and light blue. For the tracing part it was fairly simple due to the cake having a well defined shape. For colours of the cake itself I had use the eyedropper tool and then chose colours that were several shades lighter. For the icing sugar I had used circles of different opacities. In the end this was the result.

Overall, this gave me more practice with Illustrator and actually for the first time tracing from a photo.
